If you are selling something to people that is designed to help them – as in, lose weight, feel better, fix their marriage, make more money etc., here is a tip. You will have to figure out a way to weave it into your sales copy:
At some point, people realize they have been lied to. They understand they have been harmed by propaganda, deceit, theft and so on. And in order for all that to happen, they had to buy into the lie and go along with it. So what you need to say to them is something along the lines of – the greatest lie is that you told yourself it was true. You can’t beat yourself up for it because they are skilled liars. And a lot of people believed it too. What you can do, right now, is stop believing that you are not good enough, that you’re not smart enough or you don’t deserve all the good things you have always wanted. Chief among these, is feeling good all the time.
If I were to shoehorn this into the MANIPULATION framework, I would call this an emotional trigger known as acceptance.
