There’s this idea floating around that famous writers from the 20th century were manufactured by intelligence agencies.
Being a conspiracy theory it gets nuttier.
Because the shadowy groups had compromising information on these people they were promoted so they could be controlled.
The nutters go on to say that these writers were put in contact with people who would finance and support their careers as long as they toed the line.
Of course as these kinds of conspiracy theories go it ends with Satanism and child sacrifice.
These kinds of conspiracy ideas are themselves nothing more than movies that never got made. They are fantasy.
Yes you can see how people build their careers over time with a combination of work, luck and connections.
What you really see is someone who created themselves.
And that is the message for anyone who wants to become a Retired Writer.
You decide what more can you want to serve and you start writing. You combine elements of your personality and your peculiarities into your work. It is a process that evolves over time and only when you look back does it look obvious.
We create ourselves. We start with energy and more good fortune then we acknowledge. We work and we evolve and we find an audience. No conspiracy needed.
We publish Retired Writer’s Club to help you in your act of becoming the writer you want to be.
