I’ve spoken several times about finding the time to write. One of the reasons I’ve developed my method is because there’s a lot of demands on my time.
There’s no such thing as waking up and having nothing else to do but get my ideas down on paper. There are responsibilities and obligations that take tremendous time energy and money.
I’m not telling you anything you don’t know.
What I am telling you is that you’re going to have to make a decision for yourself.
Are you going to do the writing that you say you want to do even when it’s hard?
Just the other day it was a bang bang kind of thing. I can’t even remember all the things I did. There were errands and taking care of other people and they were bills to pay and phone calls and emails to return.
So when Julie asked me if i wanted her to take Caleb with her to Target I was pretty enthusiastic. Once the house was quiet for a few minutes and I could finally think I realized I had no idea what I was going to write about.
I just knew that I hadn’t done anything in that regard and that’s not the plan. The plan is to write every day.
So at the top of a blank page I actually wrote something profane. Just trying to get the wheels moving.
I figured something out and it worked out to about 744 words. Not the greatest day of output but not a whiff either.
And there have been times I just leave the house and go to the car. Because I write on my phone I have what I need. Propping a laptop on my knees in the dark is just a little too sad.
Now not every day is challenging. But many are. And I make sure that I stick to the plan. Which is to write every day. That’s my plan and it may not necessarily be yours.
But if you want to be someone who has written a book you’re going to have to pick a piece of ground on the calendar where you say this is the day I start and you also have to have a date in mind when you are going to finish. That’s what real writers do.
Again because my method is simple you can follow a course of action where you start on one day and finish on another. And you’ll find it is fun and easy. You will also find that even on days when it’s tough you will be able to do it.
The ability to get writing done in the face of challenges is one of the many benefits of our program. It’s inside the members area and it’s just 55 minutes of audio you can listen to in order to get started today. There’s also a PDF reference guide and I’ve even added some bonus videos because I love teaching this method. I think once you give it a try and get some practice under your belt you will start living the benefits yourself. I hope you decide to check it out and become a real writer today.
This is what you call evergreen content – because it happens on a regular basis.
A bunch of journalists got fired from a publication that wasn’t making money. Yet some people are acting surprised?
The unprofitable status was public knowledge for years. As were accurate rumors about the inevitable job action.
Now one or two of those journalists may have had a plan in place for when it happened. Maybe a couple got out before the pink slip fairy showed up.
But I doubt many of them took the only advice about a writing career that works – in order to get paid you have to write for a marketing that is willing to pay.
Thinking you can write about whatever you like and count on the advertising, or magic money fairy to deposit a paycheck into your account is not only dumb it is a good indication that what you write isn’t worth much in the first place. Because if you don’t understand how the world actually works, and if you don’t live in reality, how good is your writing going to be anyway?
I’m not naming the publication or the people. I empathize with anyone who loses their income.
For anyone who wants to earn a living as a writer, I repeat – write for a market where the customer is willing to pay you money for what you have to say.
And if you want to be able to produce your work faster, and have more fun while doing it, get our program on how to write a book in just 5 minutes a day. You can use the technique in the program to produce any kind of work, including books.
A great business model for writers, by the way is to produce a book on something people are willing to pay for – and then corresponding free content that creates a following, interest in what you have to say and sales for your book.
But first, you have to write the book!
And you can do so by getting inside the member’s area and listening to teh simple 55-minute audio presentation, plus some free videos on how you can write your book in just 5 minutes a day!
So let’s be honest about our writing aspirations for a moment.
We not only want to be writers we want to be famous writers.
And we not only want to be famous writers we want other people to think we are a writing genius.
Yes writing is fulfilling in itself we love the feeling it creates within us. And we do like it when people notice and complement us on our work.
And while many people will lie and say that writing satisfaction is enough they are still lying.
They want to be recognized as a great writer.
It doesn’t matter that both fulfillment and recognition don’t by themselves pay the bills. They’re both emotions. But we do crave the emotion of that recognition.
And even while we are fantasizing we know that we have to produce something worthy of that kind of recognition.
What I have found over the years is that great writing does happen. And the more you write the more it happens. I also know there are sometimes vast stretches of mediocre writing. And again the more you write the more likely you are going to have a mediocre moment.
It is basically a numbers game. However while you are piling up those numbers something happens to your writing faculty.
The ongoing progression of plateaus and peaks, when you step back, mean that over time you have actually reached a verified level of skill. And once you have achieved this level of skill the peaks of greatness come faster. They are higher. And they are more stunning when you achieve them – when the sun breaks through and you realize you have written something great.
Along the writer’s journey there is a wonderful phenomenon where a revelation of truth comes spilling out of you. And it will make you stop in your tracks. You will look at it and say, wow I don’t know where that came from but I just solved a huge problem. And I can’t wait to tell other people about it. As an aside during those peak moments of discovery and satisfaction you actually won’t be thinking about someone else calling you a writing genius. It will be right there staring back at you.
My point is that truth and solutions often arise out of the simple work of writing about whatever it is you are thinking about.
It happened to me the other day when I was working on a piece about marketing. I just blurted out that emotions are currency in the customer and if we want them to give us their money which is a different kind of currency we have to speak to them in the currency they actually care about. So marketing in this view is an exchange method between two different kinds of currency. It is useful and profitable to think about marketing in this matter. That’s a method I teach in a program about emotional triggers. And I was quite pleased with the formula that I stumbled upon. But did I stumble on it? Or did I explain it in a new way for my audience? That’s what writing really is. Again I was pleased with this discovery that literally fell out of my own mouth.
Now since this article is about writing you may not care about marketing and my revelation in that field. And that’s perfectly fine. I am using it as an example for you to demonstrate how your own genius will be revealed to you once you get down to the simple work of writing what you care about.
And my method which is simple and taught in the program inside the members area is easy to do every day. That’s all I’m doing. I actually use the program that I teach. And at this point I have many many good days along with the occasional blah day. It’s only mildly frustrating for me because I know a good day is coming right up. That’s because I follow this simple method. I simply think about what I want to write about organize a few principles in my mind and then I get started.
So I actually got a double hit off that session the other day because as I was coming up with that new idea, that new formula to teach to my marketing students I actually paused and thought to myself that it was also a useful writing lesson.
To make sure you start having more good writing days than mediocre ones, give my program a try. It is simple, fun fast and easy to write the book you have always wanted to write!
If you want to get paid to be a writer there is one rule:
Write for a market.
By market we mean an audience of people defined by a common goal – and with the financial inclination and means to pay money to achieve that goal.
That is the only way to make an independent living as a writer.
There are plenty examples of successful practitioners all around you: the financial independence guy, the woman’s career coach, the technology experts, the relationship coaches, the yogis and so on.
All writers getting paid to write.
So pick your market. Become an expert, write your heart out and have a product to sell them.
You can write a book for your market in as little as 5 minutes a day. We have a comprehensive program that takes an hour to go through and you can get started today!
I know a lot of people are unemployed due to the medical emergency.
That really puts a lot of time back in your court. Anywhere from 30 to 60 hours a week when you have nothing to do.
Now I know some people who used this to get in great shape and regain their health. Other people did things like start businesses and explore time sensitive interests such as learning languages and remodeling their homes.
Personally I wrote three books during the medical emergency. And that was when I had a full-time job while working from home.
I did my job that’s for sure. But not having to commute and not having to deal with a lot of other side issues means I really had a lot of free time on my hands. I put it to good use. Those books are all available in the members area of the website.
So what I’m saying to you if you happen to be unemployed during this time – Why not write a book?
Why not do the thing that you may have said you always wanted to do?
The method I developed is super easy and lots of fun.
When you do go back to work you will have a significant accomplishment to your credit.
You may opt to sell it on Amazon or through your own website the way I do.
If it’s your first book that won’t even matter. You will have levered yourself up so to speak into a new category.
The category where you are a writer. A legit for-real author.
Once you get used to the glow of that feeling you can think about marketing. You can look at some of the products we have at our site and use them to sell your work.
What I’m encouraging you to do is take advantage of the situation. Use it for all it’s worth. And if you’re the kind of person who wants to write a book you can get started today. I hope you do. Writing a book is fun in the moment and the satisfaction lasts a lifetime.
To get our simple, fun program on how to write you book in just 5 minutes a day, filll in the form below and get into the exclusive member’s area today!
I don’t know about you but I’ve purchased about as many diet systems as I have writing programs over the years. It made sense in the beginning because I didn’t know much – about either area. I had been overweight and I had been an unpublished writer and I wanted to change both of those conditions.
But after awhile you don’t need as much help. You understand the scope of what you want to accomplish and know most of the fundamentals. When you’re ready, when you’re really ready, you know it – and maybe then you just need a couple small pointers that will guide you through the process and your own drive and work ethic and desire sees you through.
Early last year for example, I was fed up with being overweight. And the Covid thing certainly didn’t help matters, given the scary misinformation that was floating around. I decided that no matter what the truth about the superflu wound up being, losing the weight was something I had control of and getting into shape certainly wouldn’t hurt my chances if I did catch it.
So because I knew most of what I needed to know, I went and found a couple resources to fill in my knowledge. Then I just did it. Stuck to a strict diet plan and lost 46 pounds to the point where I was the healthiest I’d been in years. I definitely leaned on the principles I’d picked up but the reality is that I did most of the work. Losing weight is no picnic, hahaha.
Same thing with writing. There was a point last year when I had completed research on a monster project that took me over 2 years to compile. I was ready to write the book. I knew how to write it. But I hesitated.
I didn’t want to sit down and grind out a 700-page book the way I had done in the past. I knew it would take me a year. And since that project was really for a niche market, I thought I’d be pouring too many resources into an effort that wouldn’t pay off proportionately.
So I sat for a minute or a week and thought about it. I definitely wanted to finish but I wanted to get it in the can.
I struck on a method that was perhaps obvious in hindsight. But because it was something I hadn’t done before I did have to feel my way through it for a little bit. Then I hit a stride. Wound up finishing in about 2 months – and the final product was 250 pages long!
That might not seem like a big deal, but I was working full-time and from home with kids and family and pets causing a ruckus every day.
When the dust settled and I was done admiring my work, I thought about the process I had just gone through. It was fun, produced a good product and it was fast. I had a good time writing that book!
So as these things go, I had an idea for a new book. This one was a little short, only about 120 pages and it only took a month!
Now I was a pretty happy writer. Two books during a pandemic? While working and raising a family? Not too bad.
The method I developed doesn’t have that many moving parts. Once you get the principles and follow a couple of tips and techniques I provide you’ll be getting down to the writing of the book you’ve been meaning to write. And I bet you’ll finish it in record time.
So my writing method is a little bit like those diet tips I worked with when I made the decision to finally “lose the weight.” I knew what I wanted to do and understood the basics but just needed some pro guidance to get the thing done.
So if you’ve kicked the tires of a writing career, and maybe gone through some courses or programs, maybe you’re finally ready. You probably don’t need help stringing sentences together and know what you want to say. If that’s the case you are in for a treat. My program for getting your book written is short, about 55 minutes long, and will give you everything you need to not only get started but see the thing through to completion.
Based on my recent experience writing those 2 longer project, I also include a couple historical examples where the authors did it the same exact way. That was long before I was around so they didn’t have my help – but their stories are kind of funny in that they backed into this method pretty much the same way I did.
I think you’re going to enjoy listening to the program as well as putting it into practice. It is fun, easy and fast. You will get your book done faster that you imagined possible. And having that final printed draft in your hands is a feeling unlike any other.
So let’s get started, together. I want to help you write a book!
