I always thought the word “misinformation” was a little fancy.
It’s just good ol’ fashioned lying!
Happens everyday on the internet.
Just last night, something happened.
A bunch of people piled on, making accusations.
Then the thing was proved wrong. And the accusers? They were off making slanderous accusations about something else.
I didn’t see a single apology or correction.
That’s the nature of discourse today and that’s ok.
The funny thing is that marketers don’t have to lie.
What a world where salespeople are the honest ones!
All we have to do is appeal to our customer’s emotions – that are the real drivers of their purchase decisions.
We let them know they will gain an advantage by buying with us, that we have secret knowledge that will aid their cause, that perhaps we are elite and confer status upon them when they give us money.
Selling is not lying.
Selling is letting people know the benefits of our goods and how it will enrich their lives.
That’s what we cover everyday in our secret email list, Retired Writer’s Club. It is no-nonsense and focused on the only business goal that matters – making money.
