Are you ready for a double-edged secret?
Here we go.
The secret reason a lot of business owners toil away, day and day and often into the night is because they are making something beautiful.
It is beautiful to them because it is an expression of their human spirit.
And this is not just people making art, or artisanal cupcakes.
I am talking about the landscapers and the real estate brokers and the restaurant owners.
These entrepreneurs are using the life they have been given to make something that at least contains an expression of themselves.
There’s a roofer in my town and he’s as much the image of a burly, tough guy driving around in a Dually as they come.
His name is on the side of his truck. I’ve spoken directly to him over the years but I never had to – his voice is so loud when he’s on the phone or yelling instructions that I would have felt I knew him anyway.
And the funny thing about a roofer is that he charges you $10,000 for something you never see.
Still, he acts as if he is making something beautiful even if he would never admit it.
Now here’s the other edge of this secret:
Your customer buys your beauty.
They buy it if they know it is legit. If they can sense that you put everything you have into it and if they believe they are going to get to take some of that beauty with them.
I know this is way esoteric but I believe it to be true.
And it is an idea you can use in the business you have or the one you want to start.
Put yourself into your thing. Your product or service. And no, I do not mean like some of those weird Internet people grinning and posing. I think their moment is passing.
But I also believe that this idea is one that has been with us for a long time and is never going to go away.
Customers almost always have a cheap, corporate alternative. Often one that might be more polished or cheaper than yours.
But it won’t have your beauty in it.
To get more of these ideas that can fuel your enterprise, I would love it if you joined our secret email list, The Daily Profit.
