I haven’t heard my son use this excuse yet, but it’s not outside the realm of possibility.
He is 14 years old after all.
And him telling me this would be just as plausible as it being the real reason behind half the headlines we see about computer security.
But that’s not the point for business owners and copy writers.
The headline of this message is topical and humorous.
It’s main function is that it gets attention.
That’s at least half if not most of the battle. You want to get people’s attention.
And then once you have peoples attention you want to hold it. Doug want to draw them into your world. Which on the Internet is personality-based.
That’s just the way it is.
And for those of you who might be a little shy about putting your work out there it’s not even about being likable. It’s about being interesting. And then being considered by others as someone of substance. Again not necessarily likable or good looking or whatever.
Just worthy of continued attention.
And here’s the secret that is not often said explicitly. You figure out how to be interesting by reading other people of interest. Eventually you absorb that quality.
And you can then reproduce it in your own voice and style. How is that for an actually useful tidbit?
And absorbing this quality is just one of the many benefits you will get when you join our secret email list, Retired Writer’s Club, which goes out to business owners just like you who understand the only legitimate goal of business is to make money.
