It is true that I can write an email in 2 minutes. I’m not the first person to make this claim. It’s easy.
You think about what you want to say, hit record, you say it and then you stop.
With a little bit of practice you can dictate emails quickly.
It is also true that sometimes you garble your words. Or the software doesn’t pick up what you meant. This can lead to humorous results.
But since this is not a live environment you can go back and edit what it is that you meant to say. And you can put it into words that actually makes sense.
Dictating your work is just one of the tricks of Retired Writer’s Club. There’s lots more to be had in the members area and on the secret e-mail list.
PS – Also humorous is when you get a phone call while dictating and you look back at the notepad and realize two trains of thought just collided! That actually happened while writing this message. So total elapsed time from hitting record to edit was about 7 minutes.
