I just got an email from The Gap.
It was an announcement that today is National Flip-Flop Day.
LOL. I love it.
It is fun, it is harmless, it gets your attention.
It is so wacky I thought it was made up on the fly but it is actually a thing started by Tropical Smoothie Café. Good for them.
It won’t get me to buy flip-flops of course but it will move some to get an extra pair of foam with a stick that irritates the space between your toes.
It’s a good example of fluff over the shoulder marketing that everyone should do to some degree.
Maybe more so for things like The Gap that has to be in front of the customer often, selling the same old khakis and shorts and other clothing basics.
Brazen marketing might be a redundant term. When you are saying something that has the sole intention of asking for money I call that brazen.
And that’s what we do!
