There’s no deliverable!
We have faith in God, we worship and pray. We are joined by millions and often billions of others in faith of a power that does not recognize us.
In terms of celebrities we don’t call it the same thing, but the mental relationship is the same.
In both cases there is no deliverable.
The relationship is one-way.
Is this why it gets so intense, so all-consuming in our minds?
I’ll leave further philosophical considerations to you.
For our purposes, how can we be more Godlike? Or at least, more like Char?
How can we give people a product that requires no deliverable? And get them to give us money?
Well, let’s see. God inspires faith because he gives hope. There is a promise of a future. There are rewards for being good boys and girls. There is meaning to our lives. That in part we derive from believing in God.
There you go.
Same thing with celebrities. They give us happiness and hope and belief in beauty. We bask in their projection.
And believing in them gives us meaning.
(Wrapped up in identity.)
Be the thing that gives your customer lots of feel-good goodies, but mostly allow them to derive meaning in their lives by believing in you.
Now that I have had some time to think about it, here is a continuum, from greatest to least power: God > Celebrity > Lifestyle Entrepreneur
